Kathryn E. Powers

Kathryn Emily, 98, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, died peacefully at home on May 12th, 2011 with her daughter at her side. Kathryn was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and moved to Dania, FL in 1948. She was the beloved daughter of William James and Emily Divis Thoroughgood, both deceased, and cherished sister of Dr. William Clifford Thoroughgood, also deceased.

She was married for 65 years to Francis Simpson Powers, who predeceased her in 1999. She worked for many years in the auditing department at the Dania Bank, and when she retired, she served in the Broward General Hospital Auxiliary, where her cheerful demeanor brought joy to all of those with whom she came in contact. Ann Arbor, MI, and James Clifford Barclay Powers and his wife Patti of Jacksonville, FL. "Mom-Mom" is also deeply mourned by grandsons Stephen B. Powers (Bruns) of Spring, TX and J.C. Barclay Powers, Jr.(Sarah), of Jacksonville, FL, granddaughters Leigh L. Gorsuch (Matt) of New Albany, OH and Natalie J. Powers of Jacksonville, FL, great-grandsons Bryson W.Powers, Landon S. Powers, Colby D. Powers, Brody S. Powers, and Payton W. Gorsuch, and great-granddaughter Sienna L. Gorsuch. Mom-Mom was fortunate to be able to say her goodbyes to all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in the last few months of her life. Arrangements are being handled by Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, and a memorial service will be
