Kenneth Wakefield

KENNETH L. WAKEFIELD, GOFFSTOWN, NH Kenneth L. Wakefield, 92, died on April 9, 2010, in Hollywood, Florida, surrounded by family. Kenneth was born in Roxbury, VT on October 7, 1917, the son of Lewis and Nora Wakefield. Kenneth was a graduate of Randolph, VT High School and the Burlington Business College. He began his career in the Northfield Savings Bank and later moved to the Randolph National Bank before moving to Laconia, NH where he was the Assistant Treasurer and Assistant to the owner of Lougee-Robinson Company, for ten years. In 1955, Kenneth moved to the Amoskeag Trust Company in Manchester, NH as the Treasurer of the Trust Department where he worked until his retirement in 1982. Kenneth was an active member of Rotary most of his adult life. He founded the Queen City Rotary in 1981 and became its first president. He was a regular attendee at the Queen City Rotary Club in Manchester NH and when in Florida he attended the Hollywood Rotary Club almost every week. In 1939 Kenneth married Arlene Lamson, an elementary school teacher. Arlene predeceased Kenneth in 1988. Kenneth is survived by his children, Karlene Ruddy of Derwood, MD whose husband, John, passed away in 2008 and by Reginald Wakefield and his wife, Jean, of New Boston, NH. And by his Grandchildren, Lesley Delisle and her husband Sean, of New Boston, NH, Laura Komisar and her husband Greg of Auburn, NH, Steven Wakefield of Billerica, MA, Daniel Wakefield of Auburn, NH, Sean and Matt Ruddy both of Derwood, MD and by 6 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by a very dear friend, Doris Myers, of Goffstown, NH and her family. A Funeral Service will be held at the Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03104-2528 at 11:00am on Friday, June 11, 2010. A burial service will be held at the Brookfield Vermont Cemetery, 11 am, Saturday, June 12, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ken Wakefield Community Service Scholarship Award which is an annual award to a deserving graduating high school student going on to post secondary education. Donations can be made payable to the Queen City Rotary Club and mailed to the Queen City Rotary Club, P.O. Box 3032, Manchester, NH 03105 in memory of Kenneth Wakefield.
