Born at Jeremie, a district in the South side of Haiti on February 18, 1956, Lifranc Felix passed away peacefully at home on his birthday 2/18/2023. He was an accountant, a banker who immigrated to the United States in the summer of 1987. He was married to Marie Singoala Laguerre in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in January of 1981. From this union came their two children, Dimitri and Cassandre Felix. He worked his first job at Temple Beth Shalom synagogue in Miami Beach where he got acquainted with Jewish tradition, but he wanted to be part of a healthcare team as soon as possible. He went to school and studied hard enough to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist. In 1998 he passed his board exam on first attempt. He obtained his first job at Mount Sinai that same year where he continued to work till the end of his life. He took great pride and demonstrated unremarkable dedication and love for his job. In fact, he worked his last shift February 16th, 2 days before his passing. Mount Sinai became his home away from home. He was passionate about his job and enjoyed the camaraderie of his co-workers.
Besides being a Respiratory Therapist, he was a dedicated dad who took absolutely great care of his children until his dying hours. Nothing they asked for was impossible to get. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking for his family: favorite dish was legume crab and favorite dessert, fruit salads.
He was the third child out of 6 siblings: Lafontant, Moise, Lifranc, Claudette, Bellevue and Violette Felix. He is preceded in death by his father, Neret Felix and mother née Clorinde Pierre. Majority of his siblings, nephews and nieces live in Canada.
He is survived by his 2 children: Dimitri and Cassandre, his granddaughter Natalie, ex-wife Marie Laguerre with whom he maintained a great relationship for the love of their children and responsibilities that even death cannot take away.
He is also survived by his brothers: Lafontant, his wife Michelle and their children: Candice, Daniel, Melyne Felix Simon and her children Mikel and Matteo Simon. His brother Moise Felix and his children. His brother Bellevue, wife Varnelle Pluviose and their children, Olivier and Kevin Felix. Sisters Claudette and Violette Felix. St Falia Hector, his cousin Maxo, wife and children. Several nephews and nieces, some of them could not be with us today, but he loved them all, and we hope they are keeping his soul in their prayers. His sister-in law, Anne Edvire Floreal and husband Vital Floreal and their two children Dr. Stephanie Floreal Dargout and Daphné Floreal. His relatives Joël and George Beausejour.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 9:30 am March 4th 2023 at Fred Hunters Hollywood Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 10 am and outer burial at 3001 N 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, FL 33024. Reception post burial will take place at Fred Hunters Funeral Home.
Lifranc’s family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the dedicated cardiopulmonary staff of Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Dimitri Felix childhood friends: Brian and Christian Mejia, and their mother. To any friends and relatives whose names are not mentioned but we know they are here either in flesh or spirit to show their love and support for Lifranc’s family.
