Lynn Guice Barfield was born on January 29, 1953 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the deceased Lonnie and Lurene Guice. She was the youngest of six siblings. Lynn attended B. F. James Elementary, and received her diploma from South Broward High School class of 1971. She continued her education at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee where she met the love of her life, Anthony D. Barfield, Sr. They married in the summer of 1973 on June 16th and moved to her husband's hometown, Memphis Tennessee. A year later, Lynn and Tony moved back to Hallandale, Florida and welcomed their first child, Kijuanna. Lynn always had a passion to teach and chose to finish her degree in elementary education at Florida Memorial College. A year and four months later, they had their first son, Anthony II. Lynn and Tony wanted a third child. After several years of complications and much prayer, their miracle child, Elijah Jeremiah, was born.
Lynn started teaching in the Broward County Public school system. However, the majority of her teaching career was at Norland Elementary in Dade County. Lynn was known for her teaching influence with the students, and she had a positive impact by helping them increase their self-esteem. She loved teaching children with reading disabilities by helping them become great readers. She started a successful reading program that helped many students excel and increase their reading level. This contributed to proficient gains in the school's overall score. Lynn finished her teaching career teaching 6th and 7th grade at Glades Middle school, in Broward County. Lynn became an entrepreneur, successfully starting several businesses. She was very influential in helping women become independent successful business owners. Lynn always brought people together. She enjoyed organizing bridal and baby showers. Many women were blessed by her giving. She became the event planner at work and helped plan events at church. Through these events, many people were encouraged, supported and uplifted and became lifelong friends.
Lynn accepted Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior. Her love for the LORD grew as the Holy Spirit cultivated her gift in worshiping and singing. She became a worship singer for the praise team and choir at the churches she attended. As a member of Words of Life, she was one of the first members of the praise and worship team. Pastor Stan Jr. heard her singing praise songs at a local mall. He called his brother, Danny, to hear her anointed voice and the rest is history. She loved the Lord and would encourage others to accept Jesus as their personal savior. Where ever she was, there was not a missed opportunity to share Jesus and invite them to Words of Life. Many are still members. She also formed a women's group of friends that would meet once a month for some fun, relaxation, and fellowship around the pool. Lynn loved visiting and praying for the sick. Many were healed and accepted Christ through her ministry. She was also a member of the praise and worship team at Jesus People Proclaim International Ministries Church. There she was able to grow into her prophetic gifting and ministry. She was a key member of the intercessory prayer team. Lynn was a woman of faith and stood fearlessly against the enemy. She was a powerful prayer warrior and a member of several prayer groups.
Lynn retired from teaching after 30 faithful years of service. On the morning of Friday, May 19, 2017. Lynn peacefully went home to be with the Lord at her place of residence in Miramar, Florida kissing her loving husband as he stood by her side. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
