

Mary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to George Anthony Brady and Mary Louise Brady on January 14, 1948. She was married to Joseph C. Turnbull on October 7, 1978 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mary graduated with an undergraduate degree from The Catholic University of America and from Florida Atlantic University with an Education Specialist Degree. She was recognized as an expert in her field receiving many honors and awards while teaching for 42 years in the public-school systems in Washington D.C, Miami Dade, and Broward counties. Mary taught at the elementary, secondary and post secondary (university) levels. Mary was a phenomenal science teacher. She was a science staff developer and mentor to other teachers. Her quick wit, science teaching and science knowledge were amazing. She retired from Pioneer Middle School in Broward County, Florida. During her career, Mary also worked at the District Science Department for the School Board of Broward County, Florida and as the K-12 Science Supervisor for the School Board of Collier County, Florida.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph C. Turnbull, both of her parents George and Mary Louise Brady, two infant brothers, and stepson Joseph Turnbull.
Mary is survived by her daughter Valerie (Steven) Schwartz, son Patrick Turnbull, stepdaughter Janine Tomlinson, stepson Jimmy (Tammy) Turnbull, and beloved grandchildren, Ethan Nehila, Madison Schwartz, Matthew Schwartz, Brady Turnbull, James Turnbull, Joseph D. Turnbull, and Shelby Tomlinson.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date when the pandemic restrictions are lifted. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either The International Elephant Foundation or The American Stroke Association.
