

Michael M. McFall of Fort Lauderdale, beloved father, grandfather, attorney, mentor and friend, passed away at the age of 82 on June 7, 2016. He was the devoted husband for 45 years of Katharine C. McFall, proud father of four children, and grandfather of eleven grandchildren. After graduating from Haverford Prep School in Haverford, Pennsylvania, Michael attended the University of Virginia and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in History. He then served in the U.S. Marines and following his honorable discharge, attended law school at his beloved University of Florida, wherein he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1962. Obtaining admission to the Florida Bar, Michael first practiced law with English, McCaughan & O'Bryan, then as managing partner at Gillespie, McFall, Gilbert & McGee, and finally as managing partner of Dykema Gossett. In addition to his very successful legal career, Michael also served as Chairman of the Judicial Nominating Committee for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, as President of the Broward County Gator Club, President and Founding Member of the National Football Foundation Brian Piccolo Chapter where he received the chapter's highest award as Past President and Distinguished American, Founding Board Member of the Blockbuster Bowl and as a very active member in Gator Boosters. Michael loved sports and spent many years coaching Little League baseball at Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale. Many current prominent citizens of Fort Lauderdale grew up playing sports and/or working with and for Michael. Michael has been retired from the practice of law since 1989 and has enjoyed living on Fort Lauderdale Beach and in his summer home in Highlands, North Carolina. As all knew, Michael was an avid Florida Gator fan and booster, and lived and breathed orange and blue. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren participate in their various and numerous sports and interests. He and his wife Katharine have been long time members of the Lauderdale Yacht Club and the Cullasaja Country Club in Highlands, North Carolina. Michael was truly a man's man, a lawyer's lawyer and a father's father. He was loved and deeply respected by all that knew him.
He is predeceased by his first wife Anne Walcott McFall and is survived by his wife Katharine, sister Mary Lou Thomas, daughters Wendy Horton (George Horton), Amy Gainey (James Gainey) and Lynn Craggs, (Thomas Craggs) and son Michael M McFall, Jr., (Heather McFall), daughters, and grandchildren Christopher Horton, Chad Horton, Cameron Horton, Cara Horton, Preston Gainey, Jr., Pierce Gainey, Parker Gainey, TJ Craggs, Conner Craggs, Lex Craggs and Michael M. McFall, III.
Services will be held at 1:00 on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 333 Tarpon Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. In lieu of Flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Football Foundation Brian Piccolo Chapter, or your favorite charity.
