August 16, 1945 – December 16, 2024
Mickey Sewell, 79, of Hollywood, FL, passed away on December 16, 2024.
Born just outside of Houston in Cherokee, Texas, on August 16, 1945, Mickey was the daughter of James and Agneta Meadours. As the child of a "doodle-bugger" in the oil industry, she spent her childhood in various parts of the world, gaining a love of adventure, and fluency in several languages.
Mickey pursued higher education at the University of Southern Louisiana before transferring to the University of Houston, where she majored in English. She went on to build a distinguished career in the airline industry, most notably at Pan American Airways. During her tenure at PanAm, she held various roles, including Passenger Service Agent, Rate Desk Lead, and Clipper Club manager. Following PanAm’s closure, she worked briefly at Delta Airlines before continuing her career at United Airlines. Later in life, Mickey reinvented herself as a successful technical writer for GE Security and other companies.
Mickey’s years in the airline industry brought her immense joy, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable experiences. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Kenneth P. Sewell. They were married aboard the PanAm China Clipper II, the last PanAm 747 aircraft, on May 4, 1992, in Miami, Florida—a testament to their shared love of aviation. Their wedding ceremony is immortalized as the final entry on the manifest for that aircraft.
Mickey is preceded in death by her parents, James and Agneta Meadours; her brother, Bruce Meadours; her husband, Kenneth Sewell; her stepson, Keith Sewell; her nephew, Robert "Bob" Meadours; and her many beloved pets who brought her so much joy.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Chris Lewczyk of Parkland, FL; her step-children and their spouses, children, and grandchildren; her nieces, nephews, cousins, all of whom she loved so much.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 12:00 PM at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home in Hollywood, FL.
Mickey’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her friends, neighbors, and the compassionate doctors, nurses, and home health aides at Comfort Keepers. Your love, prayers, care, and support have meant the world to us throughout Mickey’s health journey.
