As a young girl she studied at the Wilfred Academy in Connecticut, USA where she got her Beautician License. She then returned to Jamaica where she opened and operated her own Beauty Parlor called Min's Beauty. Minetta's beauty parlor was very well known in the community for over 20 years. She was very respected in her neighborhood and her work was above par.
She relocated to Brooklyn, USA in 1970 and then moved to Orange, New Jersey in 1990 where she was a dedicated member of St. Matthew's AME Church. She was a steward and a member of the flower club. She then moved to Miami in 2007 where she attended Unity of Miami Gardens Church.
Minetta thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends. She was a happy, fun loving joyful woman. She will always be remembered for her constant love, care and laughter. She was a praying woman and prayed for everyone she met. She loved plants and flowers. Her favorite flowers were lilies and gardenias. Pretty things always caught her eye. "I love pretty things," she always said."
"Mama" Sheriff, as she was affectionately called, had seven children. She was preceded in death by four children and a grandson. She leaves to cherish her memories daughters Greta Copeland, Rita Sheriff, and son Michael Foster; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, a host of surrogate children and loving friends.
Minetta left footprints of decency that is unparalleled to none. She will be in our hearts forever.
The family wishes to thank each and every one who called, visited, sent a card, and shared a gift, brought food or flowers, or offered thoughtfulness and kindness in any way during this time.
