

A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Carlton was born October 5th 1933 to parents Maldive Williams and Eucal Martin. He migrated to the United States 44years ago with his late wife Norma and their 2 daughters, Marcia and Audrey.
Carlton after graduation from High School enrolled in a Technical Training College and completed his degree course as an Electrician. He had a passion for his profession and was notably an expert in the field of electrical motor winding. His early work experience in Jamaica as an electrical apprentice in motor winding with R.S Silvera company within the construction Industry, did not go unrecognized. He was hired by Ariguanabo Textile Company (Jamaica’s only textile mill) as a motor winder. He excelled in his work and achieved his electrical license and was soon promoted as the Electrical Manager of Ariguanabo Textile Mills. His expertise in the field of motor winding and skill at trouble shooting textile machinery malfunction earned him the role as travel consultant to Colombia and Panama to address machinery malfunctions. He was a dedicated employee for over 25 years until his migration to the United States in April of 1978.
Carlton continued to pursue his passion for the profession. He was soon hired at Southern Armature and Pump equipment in Fort Lauderdale. Upon retirement of the owner of company, both Carlton and another colleague entered into a partnership and became co–owners of the company, where he remained for than 20 years up until his retirement in 1999.
Carlton resided in Miramar which he claimed as his ‘home away from home’ for the past 40 years. He was actively involved in community service in the City of Miramar with his late Wife Norma Martin (former president of the Miramar Park Homeowner’s group). He often cultivated and harvested vegetable and tropical fruit crop from his ‘mini backyard plantation’. Additionally, he routinely assisted and participated with his late wife Norma with the Miramar community Gardens activities. He also volunteered and participated in his specific neighborhood community activities, e.g. Crime Watch group and annual Tree Lighting Ceremony (initiated by his late wife Norma).
Carlton’s easygoing, relaxed and rather casual temperament with a touch of unpredictable humor will always be remembered. An avid sports fan, cricket, basketball and horseracing completes his persona.

Carlton is survived by his daughters, Marcia and Audrey. Grandchildren: Camille, Adrienne, Deja, Halima, Ibrahim. Siblings: Everton and Desmond and a village of family and friends.
