Nelson A. Luna

Nelson was born in the Dominican Republic on August 12, 1939, one of 14 children born to Luis and Maria (Santiago) Luna. Nelson migrated to the United States at the age of 18, moving to Elmhurst in the borough of Queens, New York. He worked at Elmhurst Hospital for approximately 26 years and then he eventually retired. He spent part of his retirement in Queens, New York and Clearwater, Florida before eventually becoming a permanent resident of Hallandale Beach, Florida.

In his spare time, Nelson was enjoyed boating and was an avid fisherman.

Survived by his beloved wife, Claudia (Castilla) Luna, loving daughter Sophia Luna, four children from a previous marriage, Robin Luna, Nelson Luna, Jr; Ciara Luna and Ruth Luna. Also survived by his devoted siblings, Julio (Darlene) Luna, Jose Luna Elena Luna, Luisa Luna, numerous nieces and nephews and many longtime friends.

Visitation on Monday, April 17th from 5:00 P.M. ~ 9:00 P.M. at Fred Hunters Hollywood Memorial Home, 6301 Taft Street Hollywood with a catholic service beginning at 6:00 P.M. An additional service will be held on Tuesday, April 18th at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home followed by burial at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
