Nona F. Holt, 84, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, passed away on April 19, 2026. She was born in Lake Worth, FL on March 27, 1942, into a pioneer family whose roots ran deep in the community — her grandfather designed much of the Mediterranean-style architecture for which Palm Beach and Lake Worth became so famous, a heritage Nona carried with pride throughout her life.
As a girl, she was a majorette and a natural athlete who excelled at every sport she tried. More than anything, she loved being alongside her father, especially on their fishing outings in the Intracoastal Waterway.
Throughout her life, Nona never forgot what mattered most: family, friends, God, and country. Her family was her greatest joy. Her friendships ran deep and long — Carolee and Nancy were close to her heart from childhood until her passing. Her love for God was expressed through her church and through organizations like the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a member for more than 50 years. And her love for country shone in the red, white, and blue she bled every day in support of our troops and the many sailors, soldiers, and first responders in her family.
Above all, Nona was known for always having a spare smile to share with any passing stranger.
Nona was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Eddie; her second husband and the love of her life, Richard; and her grandchildren, Kallen and Kendall.
She is survived by her children: Dennis (Barbie), Todd, Chrissy (Ozzie), Rhonda (Ryan), Ricky (Angela), and Kevin (Jean); her grandchildren: Christopher (Rachel), Austin (Chloe), Raegan, Rylyn, Leena, Liam, and Chase; her great-grandchildren: Benny, Richie, Athena, and Little Ozzie; her sisters: Aleda and Carol; and her nieces: Sheri and Melanie. She also leaves behind her "favorite children" — all those who adopted her along the way — including Paul, Phil, and too many others to name.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org).
