
Norman Jack Hayes was born in New Jersey in 1927, and moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1966, where he and his wife owned and operated the Nautilus Motel on Hollywood Beach. He later moved to Davie, Florida and lived there until his death.
For many years Norman was an active member of the Hollywood Elks and the Davie United Methodist Church. He also served on the board of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader in Davie.
Norman served with distinction in the US Navy during WWII aboard a minesweeper, performing bravely in Okinawa.
He retired from the State of Florida in 1990, where he was the Miami District Supervisor, Department of Business Regulation, Division of Hotels and Restaurants.
Norman loved traveling with Betty throughout the country in their Hi-Lo trailer; visiting almost 50 states, as well as Canada and Nova Scotia. He enjoyed reading westerns, grilling outdoors, and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.
Norman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Jane, his children; son Michael and his wife Dorothy, daughter Susan and her husband Robert, his grandchildren; Melissa, Matthew and his wife Jennifer, Jessica and her husband Jason, Kyle, Dennis and his wife Sharie, and Steven, his great grandchildren; Madison, Bailey, Hailey and Madalyn, and his sisters-in-law; June and Evelyn.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Vera, and his brother James.
Norman Jack Hayes was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family.
