Peter Henry Barber

Born on April 6, 1947 in Troy, New York, Peter was the son of the late James and Marjorie (Kennedy) Barber. Raised and educated in Troy, Peter furthered his studies at SUNY Albany and later at the University of Toledo Law School. Peter worked as an attorney for 20 years with the Fort Lauderdale and Miami Legal Services. After his retirement Peter pursued his passion as a Yoga Instructor.

Peter brought the light of yoga in to the hearts of the South Florida Community. He was one of the pioneers in bringing Anusara Yoga to Miami. He was a beloved teacher to hundreds of students and teachers alike. Peter was the seed that most of these students and teachers sprouted from. He inspired and instructed his classes through humor, wit and concise language. Peter was smart and technically brilliant in his yoga knowledge, very independent and deeply spiritual. Peter not only touched but also helped heal and transform many lives through his teachings and therapy sessions.

Peter is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Holly and Michael Fedor of CT; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kate Barber of RI; his niece and nephews, Sarah Barber, Adam Barber, Ben Barber and James Barber. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, James Barber and Paul Barber.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood. In honor of Peter, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice in lieu of flowers. Peters Celebration of Life will take place immediately upon the conclusion of visitation.
