

Quintiliano Rigoberto (“Rigo”) Herrera passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 4, 2021, in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He was 94 years old. He touched the lives of many with his sense of humor and unique perspective on life and was immensely proud of his family. He was known to have no filter when it came to sincerity and did not hesitate to encourage others to view life with an open mind and to remember to speak from the heart. He had a special influence on others to excel and was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed but never forgotten in our memories and our actions.
Rigo was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, to Leoncio Herrera and Celia Figueroa, on June 13, 1928. He married Mirna Fernandez on September 27, 1953, in Victoria de Las Tunas, Cuba. They were married for 68 years.
Rigo is survived by his loving wife, Mirna Fernandez Herrera; brother-in-law, Edel Roman Fernandez; son, Dr. George Herrera and his wife Josefa Herrera; daughter, Ana Rush and her husband, Richard Rush; and son, Carlos Herrera and his wife Katheryn Herrera. Rigo’s grandchildren and their spouses: LeJanet and Brent Carlin, Janelle and Charlie Ans, Jennifer and William Alston, Shawn and Diana Rush, Mark Herrera, Michael Herrera, Elyse Herrera and her fiancé, Jeffrey Hartzell and eight grandchildren: Emmelyn, Aubrey, Ivy and Hunter Alston, Aiden and Jocelyn Rush, Liam, and Isabella Ans.
