

Ralph, being the only child, left school at an early age to take care of his mother. As a teenager he loved all sports and was very energetic.
Ralph and Norma met on Brook Avenue in the Bronx, and they fell in love. He enlisted in the US Marines in 1950 and served for 2 years becoming a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was a proud Marine.
“Once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi!!”
Thereafter, in 1952, Sgt. Ralph proposed to Norma and they wed that same year. They gave birth to Steven Anthony Lugo 4 years later on September 6, 1956. On July 13, 1963 they welcomed their “baby boo” Lisa Ann Lugo.
Sgt. Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, making jokes, sharing memories, and being with the love of his life, Norma. Sgt. Ralph was a hardworking man! He spent 7+ years with the Transparent Printing Company, 5+ years at the Canarsie Cemetery, and 10+ years working for the US Postal Service; retired in 1994 and moved to Florida in 1997.
Sgt. Ralph was very active in the community and clubs. He became a member of the Salvation Army in 1997. He was involved with the ringing of the Christmas bell, Angel Tree, and Home League being the only man in the All-Women’s Home League. He also joined a bowling league in 1997 for 20 years.
Sgt. Ralph Lugo was promoted to Glory on September 19, 2021.
Sgt. Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Norma Lugo, his daughter, Lisa Lugo Manns, his son-in-law, Henry Manns, his grandchildren, Frank Diaz, Jr., Jennifer Rhodes, and Ilana Manns, and great grandchildren Derrick Díaz, Ziporrah Diaz, Kimberly Rhodes, and Quinton Rhodes.
Sgt. Ralph was preceded by his son Steven Anthony Lugo, and his parents Rafael and Deseada Lugo.
