Born on Aug. 1, 1939 in Chicago, where he was raised, Richard attended Carthage College. In 1968, he escaped the cold winters of the Midwest and moved to south Florida, where he owned and operated the Sanci Motel on Hollywood Beach. He also was a member of the Hollywood Rotary Club.
Richard was a lifelong Cubs fan, American history buff and perennial jokester who could make family and friends laugh on a whim with his goofy one-liners.
He is survived by his brother, Anthony Ferrara, two sisters-in-law, and eight nieces and nephews.
