Richard Dean Smedley

            January 13, 2023 at Westside Regional Hospital in Plantation, Florida.

            Richard was born in Wooster, Ohio on January 6, 1952 and was the youngest of 3 sons born

            to Harlan and Marjorie Smedley. He graduated from Wooster High School in 1970 and then

            attended Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana. Richard was a resident of the

            South Florida area for over 50 years.

            Richard (Dick) worked as an Automotive Technician his whole life and retired from Land

            Rover of Fort Lauderdale in 2016. Richard was a Mentor to many young men over the years

            and also became good friends with a lot of them. He was loved and respected by many in the

            Automotive industry.

            Richard was an avid Miami Hurricanes fan and was a Football Season Ticket holder along

            with his wife Deborah for over 30 years. He also dearly loved animals and upon retiring in

            2016, volunteered at the Broward County Humane Society, During his lifetime, he and his wife

            Deborah adopted various Rescue Dogs and he had an especially soft spot for older and special

            needs dogs.

            Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years Deborah, his brother Larry (Martie) of Niceville,

            FL., his nieces and nephews Jennifer Smedley Ruffenach (Steven) of Denver, CO., James

            Smedley of Niceville, FL., Brad Smedley, Brian Smedley and Dawn Renee Wagner (Smedley)

            all of Ohio, James Flores (Anna) and Threasa Flores all from Florida, along with various

            beloved cousins and many beloved friends. Richard was predeceased by his parents Harlan

            and Marjorie Smedley and 2 brothers Edward and Donald.
