Lieutenant Robert L. Baton, retired Broward County Sheriff's Office, 75, passed away on August 28, 2017 at the Bailey Center for Caring in St. Augustine, FL. He served 26 years with the Broward County Sheriff's Office and in 1975 created the Broward County Sheriff's office first SWAT team.
Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandy, daughter, Jill Allen, five grandchildren: Kevin Murtha, Jr. of Pace, FL, Kenneth Murtha of Largo, FL, CJ Allen of Pace, FL, Ryan Allen of Pace, FL, Brandy Allen of Largo, FL, great-grandchildren: Aiden Murtha, Brice Murtha, Carolyn Murtha, Kevin Murtha III of Pace, FL, brothers George Baton of Newton, NJ and Chuck Baton of St. Augustine, FL and sister Ruthann Carlson of Summerville, SC.
A visitation will be held at: Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 S. Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale, FL from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, September2, 2017 with a 2:30 pm graveside service at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
