

Bob Redington, 73, passed away early May 23, 2018 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Lois and his brother John. Bob was born in Elyria, Ohio in 1944. In 1948,his family moved to Florida where they had a couple of Mom and Pop motels on the beach south of Las Olas Blvd. He graduated from Fort Lauderdale High in 1962 where he was an accomplished athlete on the track team. Bob attended the University of Tennessee (1962-1966) on a full athletic scholarship under Coach Chuck Rohe, where he would become one of Tennessee's great all-time distance runners, attaining All-American status in 1965. Bob's accomplishments include several University of Tennessee records. In 1966 SEC vs. ACC, Bob completed the mile run, finishing first with the best recorded time of 4.01.9 minutes. Over the years, he cherished his track team reunions and looked forward to being with his team mates and hashing over the memories.
Bob is survived by his wife Paula, his brothers Jim and David, children: Michael, Bryan, Melanie and Matthew; grandchildren: Regan, Taylor, Ryan, Ephraim, Luella, Ezra and Lydia. Bob will be forever remembered by those that knew and loved him. He will be sorely missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, 3:00PM at All Saints Episcopal Church, 333 Tarpon Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL. 33301, with a reception following at Bob's home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the American Heart Association.
