He graduated from the University of Miami and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law. He was a member of the R.O.T.C. Corp and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob joined Broward County's oldest law firm, Rogers, Morris & Ziegler, and developed a reputation as a fierce litigator. The law was his passion and he prided himself on being the first one to arrive in the morning, and continued this practice until his retirement in 2017.
Bob loved to play tennis and golf and was an inveterate traveler, delighting in the fact that he had travelled to all seven continents. He will be remembered as a man of integrity with a dry, but always heartfelt, sense of humor. He loved sharing a drink and a laugh with those gathered at the Cypress Room at the Lauderdale Yacht Club. One of his greatest joys was to spend time with and learn of the accomplishments of his grandchildren. Bob was a devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by four children, Dana Ziegler Holding (Jeff), Tracy Ziegler Dunn (Chuck), Robert E. Ziegler, III (Laura), and Alyson Ziegler Parker (Bill), and 10 grandchildren: Kristen Holding Carlton (John), Lauren Dunn Gilbert (Matt), Kelley Holding, Ryan Dunn, Connor Holding, Morgan Dunn, Andrew Ziegler, Cal Ziegler, Ashlynn Parker, and Addison Parker; two sisters, Jane Ziegler Bassett and Kathy Ziegler Wolfarth.
Bob will be honored at a private family memorial service.
