

Rosanna Harris Taylor was born on September 26, 1950 on the beautiful island of Arima, Trinidad to her parents Elodie Harris and Oscer Rexford Harrington (who proceeds her in death). At the young age of 16, Rosanna landed in Brooklyn, New York in 1967. She was married to Trevor Flatts and then to Carlton Taylor, who both proceeded her in death.
After arriving in Brooklyn, NY, Rosanna received her formal education at Erasmus Hall Educational Campus. She studied Nursing at Brooklyn College. Upon relocating to Florida in 1982 she continued her work in nursing. While working at Jackson Hospital in the Nursery department she made connections with individuals within the Caribbean community. These connections proved to become life-long friends. She held a host of other jobs within the South Florida community that ranged from being a driver for Super Shuttle, a driver for the non-emergency paramedics as well as a pharmacy technician. Rosanna was an active member of Universal Truth Center who studies (metaphysic) new thought.
Rosanna was an active member of the Caribbean community in New York and Miami. She played mas with Sesame Flyers (NY), Caribbean Express, Party People, Pet and Pest, D’Untouchables, First Dimension, Radikal, Major Players, China, Wassi Ones and Big N Strong. Rosanna enjoyed Carnival and it flowed in her blood, she played Individual as well as Queen for several bands.
Rosanna enjoyed spending time with her family and was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Rosanna is survived by: Mother: Elodie Harris, Siblings: Dr. Salyon Harris Johnson, Curtis Harris, Pamela Jenny (Harris) Clency, Sean Clatys Harris; Children Nigel Matthew Gilbert, Kim Flatts, Karen Flatts, Krisel Flatts, Devado Taylor; Grandchildren Kashunda D. Flatts, Kareem P. Flatts, Kebrina K. Flatts, Kaizaiah M. Flatts, D’Vanya Taylor, Alyssa Taylor and Khalilah C. Flatts-Nelson; and she will be missed by her Terrier and Terrier-Yorkie mix puppies Candy Taylor and Tyler Perry Taylor and a host of family and friends.
Rosanna went on to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 27, 2020, choosing to be “absent in the body and now present with the Lord.” (II Cor. 5-8). We know that Rosanna was our gift from God, a special blessing into our lives, just like God gave his son, Rosanna’s work here is done. She now takes up residence with our Heavenly Father.
