Ruby Edith Mirjah was the third born to the union of Henry and Veronica (Evie) Wells on August 7, 1933 on the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada. Her three siblings were: Vera, Agnes and Clarice. In 1958, she attended the Wittington Hospital School of Nursing in London, England and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and her Midwife Certification
In 1964, Ruby returned to Grenada where she married the love of her life Osbert Mirjah on May 1, 1964. To that union one handsome and loving son was born: Hanif Mirjah. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who was dedicated and committed to the welfare of her family and her extended family. During her stay in Grenada, she was employed at the General Hospital as a Nursing Instructor.
Ruby and her husband migrated to the United States in June of 1966, where she was employed by Brooklyn Jewish Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She was also employed by Coney Island General Hospital for ten years. She worked at Seacrest Health Care Center as an Assistant Director of Nursing, where she retired and relocated to Florida in 1990.
She was an accomplished woman who enjoyed traveling around the world; some of the places she visited included the continent of Africa, India, Israel and several countries in Europe and islands in the Caribbean.
On March 22, 2017, God saw this beautiful flower in His garden and called His child home from her illness and pain into His rest. Left to mourn is her husband Osbert Mirjah, son Hanif Mirjah, sister Clarice Wells, a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memories. She was an inspiration to all and will forever be remembered for her love and kindness. We will forever cherish the memories of her life and the legacy she has left. Sleep on and take your rest awaiting the call of the life giver.
