Sean Michael Donovan

Sean M. Donovan, 65, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away at home on August 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 17, 1957 on Miami Beach, Florida, the fourth son of the late William J. and Marilyn Donovan.  

He was a 1975 graduate of Miami Carol City High school and a gifted athlete. He attended the University of South Florida and left school to become a Miami Dade County firefighter.    He earned the rank of lieutenant and retired in 2007.

Sean is survived by his wife Caren and son Timothy, brothers William (Denise), Thomas, Brian, Terrence and sister Patricia Ludington (Don), as well as his mother-in-law Carolyn Irmeger, brother-in-law David Lasry (Lynda), sister in law Julianne Verhagen (Dan) and many nieces and nephews. 

It was said that he was his mom’s favorite son and everyone’s favorite sibling.  His calm, easy going demeanor, his patient and caring ways made him likeable to everyone he met.   He was an amazing husband, father, brother, friend and neighbor and will be missed more than you can imagine.

A celebration of life/memorial will be held at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida 33024, on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 12:30 PM.
