

Garcia-Lavin, Siria Eloisa Francisca Pasalodos, 85, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away on April 1, 2013. "Tita" as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, was born in Havana, Cuba on September 17, 1927. She was the oldest child of Siria Cardoso y Ramos and Damaso Pasalodos y Febles. She attended Ruston Academy and graduated from the University of Havana College of Education. She was a member of the Havana Yacht Club, the Vedado Tennis Club, the Colegio de Profesores de Ingles, and Colegio Nacional de Profesores Universitarios de Ingles. Siria married her beloved husband, Jose Garcia-Lavin, on June 25, 1955 in Havana; Cuba.They brought their family to the United States from Cuba in November 1960. She loved children and worked as a Spanish teacher at Key Coast School in Fort Lauderdale, but mostly Siria will be remembered for her devotion to her husband, her four children and her extended family and life long friends. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family members. She is survived by her loving children: Ralph Govin (Candy), Siria Tatum (Tom), Ramon Garcia-Lavin (Elizabeth), Cristina Rowand (Keith). Grandchildren: Sean Govin (Kathy), Marisa Govin Oliveira (Giuliano), James Govin (Mary), Sarah Ritchie (Charles), T.J. Tatum, Elizabeth Tatum, Emilie Rowand, Caroline Rowand, Alejandro Garcia-Lavin and Marcos Garcia-Lavin. Great Grandchildren: Cate Govin, Noah Govin, Jack Govin, Brooke Govin, Lilly Ritchie, and Maddy Ritchie. She is also survived by her sister Eloisa (Ruky) Saavedra and her brother Damaso Pasalodos (Kate).
Visitation at the funeral home will be 5:00pm-7:00pm Friday, April 5th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30am Saturday, April 6th at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 901 NE 2nd St. Fort Lauderdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated to St. Anthony Foundation for Education, 820 NE 3rd St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
