

Steven Anthony Matanis of Davie, FL passed away on July 29, 2022. Originally from North Miami Beach, Steve graduated from North Miami Beach Senior High in 1976. He was an avid fan of UM Football, the Miami Dolphins, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. He always looked forward to football season! Steve loved the beach, concerts and hanging with friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his brother Charlie, his mother Patricia and his father Charles Matanis Sr. Steve is survived by his sisters: Karen Alper, Pam Onori (Jim) and Kim Rocca (Bob); his nieces and nephews: Nicole Ramos, Christina Buchanan (Stuart), Tony Onori (Crystal), Samantha Rocca and Alex Rocca; several great nephews and a great niece. Steve is survived by many close friends, neighbors and colleagues.
Steve had a larger than life personality and a heart of gold. Steve owned his own painting business, Faux by O, for many years. He was recognized in several design magazines for his work. Steve was a lover of dogs. He never met a dog that didn't immediately fall in love with him! Steve enjoyed many controversial conversations with everyone, especially his brothers in law, whom he thought of as brothers. Whether it was politics with Jim or Red Sox vs. Yankees with Bob - dinner conversations will never be as colorful without Steve.
A celebration of life will be held at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home on Friday, August 12th, 2022 from 4PM - 6PM. A repast will immediately follow in Fred Hunter's Community Center from 6PM - 8PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Broward, or the charity of your choice.
