

Thomas Charles “Tommy” Murray of Hollywood, Fla., passed away on October 22, in North Broward Health’s Vitas Hospice. He was 57.The first son of Ann ( née Kelly) and Charles “Chickie” Murray, he was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts on Sept. 20, 1964. He is preceded in death by his father, a Hollywood local and Winthrop native, and his grandparents Kay and Tim Kelly and Alma and Walter Murray all of Winthrop, Mass.
Tom’s gregarious personality and generosity is well-known to friends and family. As a boy, he was quick with a smile, ready to lend a helping hand, and eager to tell his latest story. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with engines. He attended schools in Broward County, Fla., including Nova Elementary/Middle, McArthur High School, Sheridan Tech and “upper state college” where he was a whiz at small engine repair.In adulthood, he enjoyed driving his race car and owned an independent tow truck business called “Hammerhead Towing.” In his latter years, he enjoyed connecting with friends and family by phone and had an extensive contact list. He leaves his mother, sisters Marie Murray (Harold) Martin and Michelle Murray, brothers Kevin Murray and Tim (Brenda) Murray; Uncle Joe Kelly formerly of Winthrop, of Mass., and Aunt Barbara and Uncle Ed Survilas of Winthrop, Mass. He also leaves niece Grace Martin and nephews Garrison Martin and Carson Martin all of Hollywood and cousins in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. His life-long friend Scotty Richitelli will be remembered for his unyielding support and encouragement during difficult times.Family and friends will honor Tom’s life on Wednesday, November 10 at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street in Hollywood.
