

Victoria was born to Cruz Diaz and Delfin Diaz Mandes on March 10,1928. She attended George Washington High School in Washington Heights, New York. She married Alejandro Ortiz Torres in 1946 in New York. She worked as a health care worker for both Mother Cabrini and Francis Delafield Hospitals for many years, and as the Director of the Corona Program for the Elderly, in Queens, NY. She was actively involved in various civic and parish clubs and organizations including the Holy Name Society of Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Manhattan where she educated all her children. She received various recognitions and awards for her dedicated volunteer service to her communities.
Victoria is preceded in death by all her siblings including Carmen Diaz, Carlos Diaz, Guimbo Diaz, and Dolores Diaz.
Survivors include her five children:
Alexander Ortiz,
Felicita Ortiz (in memorium)
Carlos Ortiz,
Thomas Ortiz and
Matthew Ortiz.
Victoria is the grandmother of seven grandchildren:
Jennifer,
Victoria,
Justin,
Yolanda,
Julian,
Stephanie, and
Jason Ortiz.
Victoria was also the Great-Grandmother of six great grandchildren: Gabriel, Isabel, Jonah, Charles, Neo, and Elodie.
Victoria is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a funeral being held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home located at 2401 South University Drive, in Davie, FL 33324 (954) 527-1550
A second funeral mass service will also be held for Victoria in Queens, New York, at a date and church to be determined shortly.
The family of Victoria Ortiz wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Active Senior Living ALF; the doctors, chaplains, social worker, registered, licensed, and practical nurses, from the VITAS Hospice organization; the Virtue Medical Staffing Agency; and Victoria’s the personal care assistants, especially Susana Rodriguez and Marjorie Portillo, who helped Victoria each and every day with her daily living activities, and her inimitable SMILE😊.
