William was born to Pearl Andrews and William Clifford Ely ll on Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, MA.
He is survived by his wife Debra; his daughters Kathryn and husband Trinidy, Khrystyne and husband Devin, and Alyssa Ely; step-children James, Courtney, Jessica, and Ally; proud Papa to Easton, Korey, Trinity, Kennedy, Kross, and Haze; parents William II and Glenda Ely and Pearl and Tor Mathisen; sisters Star and Antoinette and brother Jay; his Aunt Nancy and Uncle Buster; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; Pops to Taylor, Ashley, and many, many more. He loved us all “hard” and was an amazing blessing.
Billy was always a gentleman. He was a loving, kind, thoughtful, selfless, encouraging, funny, outgoing, joyful, generous man who was a mentor to many. His smile made everyone smile and his laugh was infectious. He would light up the room with his positive energy, often saying “Let’s get this party started!”. He was a hard worker and a great provider. He was passionate about his wife, children, grandchildren, Darla, family, friends, fishing, napping, cheese and bacon, giving, and spreading the word and love of Jesus. He was quick to say I love you, give a hug, listen, and give advice. He was also passionate about everyone doing their best and always doing the right thing. He was the perfect disciple and made Jesus proud of the man he was every single day. Be kind! Be grateful! Be a blessing like Billy!
In lieu of flowers, we have set up a place to donate to support what Billy was passionate about: helping the homeless and addiction recovery. It was as natural as breathing for Billy to bless the homeless with conversation, food, clothes, and money. He didn’t want anyone to be hungry or wanting in any other way. After retiring, Billy planned to work helping others with addiction recovery. In his honor, we have started a Facebook group called “Blessings from Billy” where you can donate via our Gofundme account or simply write a check out to Debra Ely with “Blessings from Billy” in the memo. All funds will be used to bless others on Billy’s behalf.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
