William "Bill" M. Land, 92 of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 17, 2016. Born and raised in Richmond, Kentucky, Bill traveled the world while serving in Patton's 3rd Army during World War II. He met his wife, Inge, of 69 years while stationed in Germany and moved to Covington, Kentucky after being honorably discharged from his military service. Upon returning to the U.S., Bill and Inge had their daughter, Gloria. Bill had a long and successful career working for the General Services Administration as a Chief Engineer in Cincinnati, Ohio until his retirement. He was also a proud Free Mason having been a member of Masonic Lodge #746 for 66 years. After retiring from the General Services Administration, Bill and his wife moved to South Florida in 1968 where they resided until his passing.
Bill enjoyed playing golf, photography, working on the computer, making jewelry and furniture. He never met a stranger and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Inge Land, his adoring daughter, Gloria Vagi (Robert), his loving grandchildren; Robert Vagi II (Michelle), Kevin Vagi (Sara), Brian Vagi (Terri) and his 4 and a half great-grandchildren; Hannah, Sabrina, Katie, Silas and one on the way. William was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Velma Land and his brother, Thomas Vernon Land.
