Merle K. Hopkins

Merle was born in Truxton on February 7, 1932, a son of the late Howard J. and Ethel Haun Hopkins.

He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1954

He was a self-employed carpenter in the Homer area for many years.

Merle is survived by his wife; Ruth Stricklin Hopkins of Oak Island, NC; four children, Ted E. (Sue) Hopkins of Cincinnatus; Ethel “Angel” Sanford of Homer; John W. Hopkins of Oak Island, NC and Judy R. (Ron) Space of Oak Island, NC; his brother, Gerald (Geraldine) Hopkins of East Homer and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services, with Military Honors, will be held at 6 PM on Monday at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer, with the Rev. Mark Lata officiating

Memorial contributions in Mr. Hopkins’ name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
