

Phoebe vonPaulsen Krome was born in Brookline, Massachusetts December 14, 1923 to Captain Carl Christian vonPaulsen (USCG) and Annette Maria Kahler vonPaulsen. The family moved to Coconut Grove in the mid thirties where Phoebe and her sister attended Miss Harris’s School. After graduating she attended the University of Vermont. During World War II Phoebe was a nurse’s assistant, caring for wounded servicemen.
Phoebe married William Henry Krome in April, 1950 in Homestead. The Kromes lived in Perrine until 1958 when they moved to the Redlands. Phoebe worked with her husband in their fruit groves and raised four children and cared for several relatives in their golden years.
Phoebe is survived by her sister, Margaret Mabbs (Edward) and four children: William J. (Lenor), Medora, Carl (Helen) and Elizabeth Perez (Richard). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Phoebe Janflone (Kevin), Mary C. Krome, Thomas H. Krome, Susan Krome, Anatalia Perez-Beightol (Scott) and Edward Perez (Frances) as well as 2 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held December 29 at 10:30 am at Branam Funeral Home.
