Alice J. "Jo" Glass

Alice J. "Jo" Glass, age 76, died September 15, 2010. Mrs. Glass was a life long resident of Cahaba Heights and wife of Harry R. Glass of 38 years, mother of W. Douglas Armstrong (Catherine) of Vestavia Hills, Kenneth W. Armstrong of Vestavia Hills, Nancy J. Goodwin (John) of Houston TX and Robyn L. Armstrong (Steve) of Pelham, also mother to Nancy Kozel (Kerry) of Michigan, John Glass (Debbie) of Hoover, Sondra Bucklaew (Danny) of Illinois. She was also a loving grandparent of 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Alice J. Glass was an active member of Cahaba Heights Baptist Church. She loved teaching Sunday School and was involved with numerous church committees. She was extremly devoted and loved her church family. Mrs. Glass was a retired Dental Hygenist of 39 years and also worked 12 years at the Mountain Brook School System.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Our family will never forget the love she shared and showed for each of us and she will never be forgotten. Alice J. Glass is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thompson; baby brother, Hubert Thompson; sister, Dolly Robinson and brother, C.W. Thompson. Our Family and our mother would like to thank all the staff, nurses, and doctors at St. Vincent's Hospital that has meant so much not only to our mother but our entire family for the wonderful care and support. We would like to especially thank Dr. James Gewin, Dr, James Cantrell and Dr. James Strickland. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 18, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. Funeral services will be at Cahaba Heights Baptist Church on Saturday September 19, 2010 at 11:00 followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cahaba Heights Baptist Church, 3800 Crosshaven Drive, Vestavia Hills, Al 35243. Arrangements under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood, AL.
