

GRIFFIN, AMELIA DABNEY, 81, of Greenbriar at the Altamont, died Friday morning, March 25, 2011. Born Virginia Amelia Grant Dabney, she was the youngest daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Marye Yeamans (Eugenia Blount) Dabney. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: an infant twin, Marye Yeamans Dabney, and by Mrs. Karl Emil (Eugenia Blount Dabney) Hofammann, Jr. She is survived by her eldest sister, Mrs. Robert Thornton (Sarah Dabney) Scott of Richmond, VA; by her four children, Mr. Thomas Gerald Peacock III, Mr. George Wheeler Griffin, Jr., both of Birmingham; Mrs. Kyle Grant (Sarah Eugenia Griffin) Pemberton of Fairfield, AL; Mr. James Blount Griffin of Covington, GA; by four grandchildren: George Addison Griffin, Richard Monroe Griffin, Mary Virginia Pemberton, and Genevieve Grace Griffin; by two brothers-in-law, two daughters-in-law, and one son-in-law; by three nephews, three nieces, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. A memorial worship celebration will be held Sunday, March 27, 4:00 PM at Liberty Church, 2732 Old Rocky Ridge Road, Vestavia/Hoover. Visitation will be held at Valley Chapel, Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Monday, March 28, 2011 at 5-7 PM, with Rosary services following. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows on Tuesday, March 29, at 1:00PM, graveside following at Elmwood Cemetery. Flowers are welcome, as well as memorial contributions to any of the above named charities, or to any cancer or heart disease research foundations of your choice.
