
WEATHERS, ANGELA PERCY Angela Percy Weathers died peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the age of 38. She is the daughter of Shelley and Jerry Barbour Clark, and is also survived by her sister, Michelle Weathers Stairs of Dallas, TX. She was predeceased by her father, William Latham Weathers, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Shelley Percy, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Clark, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Weathers. Other survivors include her aunts Penne Percy Peacock of Austin, TX, Jamie Percy Estes of Austin, TX, Brenda Percy Pardue of New Orleans, LA, Virginia Weathers Jones of Atlanta, GA, and Sara Weathers Garrett of Panama City, FL, and many cousins. Angela graduated from The Altamont School and attended Brenau University and Mary Baldwin College. She was presented at the Ball of Roses, the Heritage Ball and the Natchez Pilgrimage. She was a member of the Junior League, the Service Guild, and the Ballet Guild, all of Birmingham. While living in Washington, D.C., Angela was a guide at the U.S. Capitol in the office of Rep. Spencer Bachus and then worked in the office of Sen. Jeff Sessions. Later, Angela was a teacher's assistant in Special Education at the Notre Dame School in Dallas, Texas. Angela's story is a heroic and triumphant one. She was not defined by her health challenges but for her courage and perseverance in overcoming them. She was her mother's inspiration for founding Magic Moments twenty-seven years ago, a non-profit organization granting wishes to children with chronic life-threatening illnesses in the state of Alabama. Compassionate and fun-loving, Angela was devoted to children and animals, and she was deeply touched by those in need. Her life is a testament to the power of brave determination fueled by unwavering faith. Her impact was widespread and indelible. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3736 Montrose Road, Birmingham on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Magic Moments, 1600 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233, or to the Comprehensive Transplant Institute at UAB, 1530 3rd Avenue South, FOT 1230, Birmingham, AL 35294, which is the location of the Angela Percy Weathers Clinic Room.
