Ann Elliott Huddleston, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 3, 2025. She is survived by her son, John Huddleston (Clare); daughter Krissy Smith (Andy); grandchildren Anna Clare Huddleston, Libby Huddleston, Drew Huddleston, Madalyn Smith, Logan Smith and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Geoff Huddleston; parents John and Muriel Elliott.
Ann was a graduate of Ensley High School. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Birmingham Southern College and later earned her masters at University of Alabama Birmingham. Her teaching career spanned over three decades with stops at schools in Birmingham, Cincinnati, and Hoover. She ultimately made her professional home at Simmons Middle School where she spent 22 years as a 6th grade Language Arts teacher before retiring in 2012. Ann was also an active and faithful member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church.
Ann faced cancer twice, both times gracefully and with resolve. Even during her most recent bout with the disease, she would still greet others with a smile and would especially light up anytime one of her five grandchildren visited. Ann will be remembered for her gentle spirit and servant’s heart. She cherished life and dedicated it to caring for those around her—whether through her family, her friendships, or her contributions to her community.
A celebration of life will be held at Bluff Park United Methodist Church in Hoover on Wednesday, May 7, 2025: Visitation 10:00am-12:00pm, Service at noon. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bluff Park United Methodist Church, 733 Valley Street, Hoover, Alabama 35226 or to the charity of your choice.
