Barbara Spradling

Helen Barbara Spradling, age 81, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Thursday, September 4, 2014. She was a long time member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, Vestavia Country Club, The Club, Les Soirees and The C.O.’s. As President of the Vestavia Hills Garden Club, she was instrumental in the preservation of Sibyl Temple. This project was near and dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Charles Gaither Spradling, Sr., her parents, Mosley and Ora Curry, her sister Vera Walker, brothers Orval Curry and Louey Curry. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Pamela L. Keel (Larry), children Charles G. Spradling, Jr. (Darlene), Dr. Richard L. Spradling (Kathy), Jo Ann S. Milam (Jeff), sister Alvarene Prather and brother Dr. Jerry Curry (Ann). Grandchildren Christopher Spradling (Natalie), Michael Spradling, Preston Spradling, Miriam Allcroft (Ross), Elizabeth Jones (Jordan), Kathleen Milam and Judson Milam. Great grandchildren include Greer Spradling, Haley Spradling and Thatcher Jones and several nieces and nephews including her first niece, Kaye Sutley (Mike).

Mrs. Spradling’s services will be held Sunday, September 7th at Ridouts Valley Chapel, Homewood, 1800 Oxmoor Road. Visitation at 2:00 p.m. with service at 3:00 with family burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetary.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Big Oak Ranch, 6000 Shelley Drive, Springville, AL 35146 as the Spradling family were generous supporters with the Spradling Home and Barbara Spradling Lake.
