

Brenda Aldridge, affectionately known as “Nanny” to those who loved her most, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025 at the age of 79. A proud Alabama native, nanny was born and raised locally, embodying the grace, warmth, and beauty of her home state throughout her life.
Nanny’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and unwavering support. Her true calling was her family—she was the heart of the home, a constant source of comfort, strength, and selfless care. She always put others first and created a space where everyone felt welcome, cherished and deeply loved.
She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband (Billy “Paw Paw” Tonnemacher), her three cherished children (Anita Miller, David Bridgmon, Lona Hill), her precious great granddaughter (Victoria Miller), and several other dear family members and friends who passed before her. She is survived by many beloved family members. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the lives and hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Nanny will be remembered for her boundless love for her family, her fierce loyalty to Alabama Football, and her unmatched talent for cooking the world’s best breakfast. To anyone in her presence, she was the most kind-hearted and generous soul—a beacon of unconditional love whose legacy will be felt for generations to come.
A visitation for Nanny will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
