

Carolyn Marie Kilgore (age 50) died on September 29, 2015 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was the beloved partner of Denise Elliott for 23 years.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Martha Kilgore of Crestline. Carolyn was a graduate of Ramsay High School and Samford University and went on to attend the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. She was employed at the USDA Rural Development.
Carolyn was a member of First Baptist LaFayette, Georgia, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir, often as a featured soloist. She enjoyed music, gardening, arts and crafts, teaching, cooking and beekeeping. She will be remembered for her humor, her kindness, and her loving and peaceful heart.
She is survived by Denise Elliott, Lawrence Kilgore, and Laura Kilgore Barnett (Sam), as well as extended family and myriad friends that she loved like family. She was predeceased by her mother, Martha W Kilgore.
A memorial service will be held at McElwain Baptist Church, 4445 Montevallo Road, Birmingham on Saturday, October 3, with visitation at 1:00 pm and the service to follow at 2:00 pm. A second memorial service will be held in LaFayette, Georgia at a later date.
