

Carroll Ann Barrett died Thursday, June 18, 2020. A native of Birmingham, she was born September 1, 1940, to the late Thamar H and Stuart Dupuy Barrett. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Thamar H (Buzz) Barrett and James (Jay) Dupuy Barrett.
Carroll was educated in the Birmingham public schools, graduating from Ensley High School in 1958. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Alabama, Master of Arts Degree from Florida State University, and an AA certificate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She taught in Florida, and in the Birmingham, Mountain Brook, and Vestavia Hills
school systems, and at Jefferson State Community College.
Carroll was a member of Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church. She was a member and officer of various education societies as well as civic and social organizations.
Carroll is survived by her nephew, James K (Jake) Barrett (Ellen), nieces Janna B Steele (Jamie), Bonnie B Wallace (Thomas), Christine B Neil (Jason), Rachel Barrett, and Rebecca B Daniel (Keith). She is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews and cousins, and her sisters-in-law, Ellen V Barrett and Shawn M Barrett.
Due to current circumstances, a graveside service for family members only will be held at Elmwood Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church Missions, the Presbyterian Home for Children in Talladega, or a favorite charity.
