Charles Thomas “Charlie” Anglin, age 91, passed away January 1, 2014 at Brookwood Hospital after a short illness. Charlie was a long time resident of Cahaba Heights. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Grove Anglin and son, Charles Thomas “Chuck” Anglin, Jr. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Doug & Lisa Anglin; 3 granddaughters, Ashley Anglin Taylor (Sean), Lauren Anglin Bowers (Matt) and Morgan Anglin along with one great-granddaughter, Bennett Grace Taylor.
After serving in WWII, Charlie returned to the Birmingham area to complete his education and graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 1949. He married Margaret Ann in “New Merkle” in 1947. He was an excellent bowler, but his favorite pastime was square dancing with the Shirts & Skirts Square Dancing Club in Cahaba Heights. Charlie retired from Citadel Cement and spent most of his retirement time at his second favorite pastime – piddling in his “lot”.
Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 at Ridout’s valley Chapel in Homewood, followed by a 2:30 graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery. Reverend Chris Harris is officiating
