
Charles A. Taylor, Jr., 78, died in Birmingham February 26, 2013 of dementia. Born in Decatur, GA in 1934, he was a lifelong Episcopalian. He graduated from Emory University, studied a year at Peabody College, and graduated from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Ordained an Episcopal priest in 1959, he served in various ministries in Atlanta, north Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Alabama. He served 10 years on the staff of St. Mary’s-on-the-Highlands and after retirement served as Priest Affiliate at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Hoover. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Taylor, also an Episcopal priest, a son Richard (Andrea) Taylor of Atlanta, daughters Marie (Scott) Perry of Sandy, UT, and Rachel (Chris) Hoover of Carrboro, NC, sister Anne (Doug) Franzen of Decatur, GA, and four grandchildren. He had abiding interest in world travel and in books. The funeral will be held at Holy Apostles, 424 Emery Drive, Hoover at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 9th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Birmingham Hospitality Network (Birminghamhospitalitynetwork.com) of which he was a founding member.
