Born in Selma, Alabama on November 20, 1952, Dan was the son of the late Bud Kersey Cash and Ina Grady Cash.
Dan was a 1975 graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned his degree in Interior Design. He devoted 37 years to Birmingham Wholesale, where he served as an interior designer, building lasting relationships with clients who often became lifelong friends. Over the course of his career, he participated in numerous decorator showhouses and developed a reputation for creating spaces that reflected both beauty and purpose. His work was widely admired across the Southeast and reflected his deep appreciation for art, design, and architecture.
In addition to his love of design, Dan was an avid equestrian with a deep affection for horses. He and his life partner, Steve, owned and cared for several horses throughout their life together. Dan especially enjoyed participating in racking horse competitions, where he earned numerous ribbons. His time with horses brought him great joy and was a meaningful part of his life.
He is survived by his life partner of 45 years, William Steven Barton; his sister, Delores Cash Kornegay; his brother, Donald Cash; and his nephews, Dusty Hubbard (Christopher Snyder), Trey Cash, and treasured memories of the late Lee Cash.
