I am sorry to hear of David’s sudden passing.

I knew Dave when we were at Taney Jr High in Camp Springs, Md.

He and I were on the track team. I was running the 220 yd dash and he was running the 440, a grueling sprint. One day Coach Knode said, "O’Connor, you and DeMedicis switch.”

Dave was in the 9th and I was in the 8th grade, and as such, I didn't know him too well. He took a compassionate protective posture, telling the coach that he'd only do it if I wanted to, as if we had a choice. I had previously talked to him about the difficulty of that run, and hadn't attempted it, and didn't relish the idea. We made the switch.

My recollection was that Dave did pretty well with that switch, and I always appreciated his compassionate attitude.

I’m sorry we didn't tag up down the line. My brother John often talked about him on his visits with Steve.

Dear David, you are resting now in peace, but your kindness and love will remain with us all. Thank you for making my sister so happy all these years, for being a father for my sister’s kids, and for making us feeling home every time we visited. You are part of our family, and your memory is treasured by each one of us.

To my sister, my heart is always with you. Love you.

As my sister’s husband David was a kind person, he also was my friend and I am deeply sad to not having him with us anymore. He is now with The Lord and we will remember him with love.
