David Michael "Mike" Murphree

Mike Murphree was a devoted father, brother, Pawpaw, and friend whose greatest joy was found in his family and the people he loved. Known for his kindness, humor, and generous spirit, Mike never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a hand or share a story.

A proud graduate of Shades Valley High School, Class of 1972, Mike carried lifelong friendships and memories from his school years.

He is survived by his children, Jason Murphree, Jackie Couch (Matt Terry), Michael Waltman, and Michelle Moore (Steve); grandchildren, Kayla Couch, Payton Currie (Taylor), Kinley Waltman, Lily Terry, and Taylor Couch; and great-grandchildren, Jayden Couch and Amber Couch. Mike also leaves behind his brothers, Gene, Chris, and Tim; his special longtime friends, Mike and Trisha Forshey; his beloved Pants Store family; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless others who loved and considered him family. To all who knew him, he was affectionately “Pawpaw,” a title he carried with pride.

He was preceded in death by his father, D.A. Murphree; his mother, Geraldine Murphree; his wife, Judith Waltman; and former spouse, Patt Murphree.

Mike’s life was defined by his deep love for family, his loyalty to friends, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. He will be remembered for his warm heart, his laughter, and the way he made life brighter for those around him. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know him.
