Dorothy Wilson Clark

Mrs. Clark was an active volunteer for many of the city's civic and service organizations throughout her long life.

She was a member of the Zenobia Literary Club which was organized in 1932, serving as a delegate to the American Federation of Women's Clubs. She volunteered with the American Red Cross and The Girl Scouts of America. She was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church for over 50 years serving as President of the School's Parent Teacher Association. She was also active in the St Ann's Altar Sodality Guild. She was president of the William Speer Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as a direct descendent of Richard Henry Lee, signer of the Declaration of Independence. She also served as President of the Ballet Women's Committee and chaired the Poinsettia Debutante Ball.

She passed away peacefully in her home at the Brookdale Retirement community where she volunteered as a Brookdale Ambassador.

She was the widow of the late Dr. George Elwood Clark and is survived by her four children, George Wilson Clark, Judith Clark Kyser (Kyle), Walter DuBose Clark (Joy) and David Michael Clark (Kay ); eight grandchildren, Kyle Kyser Jr. (Christy), Kristin Kyser Andress (Victor), Caroline Kyser Smith (Davis), Jennifer Clark Bonano (Kelvi), Kacey Clark, Ashley Clark, Holly Brown, and Andrew Brown (Charla).

and ten great grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood with visitation at 10:00 am and services beginning at 11:00 am. A private burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetary.

Following the burial, at 2:00 pm, the family will receive guests at the Gazebo Room at Brookdale Retirement Community at 400 University Park Drive for a reception and celebration of her home going.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Dr. George & Dorothy Wilson Clark Scholarship Fund for under served children at the Montgomery Christian School, 1728 South Hull Street, Montgomery, AL 36104.
