Dorothy S. Keyser

KEYSER, DOROTHY ELIZABETH STAPP Dorothy Elizabeth Stapp Keyser, age 93, passed away June 16 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mrs Keyser was born in Birmingham on November 4, 1919 to the late Charles N. Stapp and Lula Pruitt Stapp. Mrs Keyser graduated from Ensley High School. She worked with and retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Mrs. Keyser was a member of McElwain Church. Mrs. Keyser was known in the family as a caregiver when she was younger, as she provided assistance for several family members and friends when they were in failing health . Mr and Mrs Keyser were active members of the 1941 Woodlawn High School social group. They enjoyed many annual trips to the beach with the group, and Mrs Keyser continued to meet monthly for luncheons with those friends after her husband passed away. Preceding her in death is her husband of 46 years John Thomas Keyser, Jr., sisters Vera Ray and Louise Laney, and brother Charles Stapp. Survivors include daughter Joni R. Keyser and son-in-law Carlos Solis, son John Thomas Keyser, III, sister-in-law Emily Carroll, grandchildren Carlos G. Solis and Marielle C. Solis, and nieces and nephews Chet Ray, Gary Ray, Jo Del Burns Edwards, John M. Laney, Jr., Lynn Roulaine , Steve Stapp, Charles Stapp, Lauralee Estes and long time family friend Anne Stowe. Funeral services for Mrs. Keyser will be Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood, Al, with visitation and a reception following the service.
