

Earle Kilen Thompson of Hoover, Alabama left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 7, 2025 at the age of 93. He was born in Duluth, MN on June 14, 1931 to Lena Kilen and Gilbert Thompson. He was raised on a farm near Toivola, MN with his brothers and sisters. He went to the University of Minnesota and got his Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. He was drafted just after that and served in the United States Army for two years. He returned to school at the University of Minnesota to get his MBA. He was married to Lola Mayonne Fauske on June 29 1957 until her death on February 23, 1972. He married Nancy Page Adams on November 4, 1972 and was married for 52 years. He worked at Oscar Mayer for 37 years until he retired in 1992. He worked another 15 years at the Samaritan Center of Hendersonville, TN. In June of 2007 he and Nancy moved to Hoover, AL to live with their youngest daughter and her family.
Earle was known for his beautiful bass voice. He sang in his school chorus as the only boy. He sang “The Lord’s Prayer” in many weddings for family and friends and was part the Barbershop Harmony Society for several years. His favorite song to sing was “How Great Thou Art”. He sang in church choirs his entire life, including the Joyful Singers Senior Adult Choir at Hunter Street Baptist Church. He loved music and always had music playing at home. Even in his last days at the hospital, he was singing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lena Kilen and Gilbert Thompson, his first wife Lola Fauske Thompson, his sisters Jean Nyquist, Darlene Dixon, Deloris Wentworth, and Loraine Thompson, and his brother, Larry Thompson. He is survived by his wife Nancy Thompson, his brother Ronald Thompson, his daughters Cindy (Keith) Haisten, Janet (Tom) Sisk, Tammy Teal, and Jennifer Kilen (Frank) Glascock. He is also survived by his grandchildren Corey Kilen (Candi) Haisten, Ethan (Megan) Haisten, Elizabeth Sisk, Savannah (Jessie Sarbor) Sisk, Earle (Katie) Graham, and Jake Thompson, and his great grandchildren Cadyn Haisten, Cole Kilen Haisten, Olen Haisten, Kilen Haisten, and Ellie Reese Haisten.
The memorial service will be Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Hunter Street Baptist Church at 2:00pm. Visitation will be at 1:00pm before the service. A private graveside service will be at 10:15am on the same day at the Alabama National Cemetery for family.
