

Frances Evelyn Langford of Vestavia AL died at home on September 8, 2025, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Daniel Langford; her daughter, Heather Michelle Wiginton (Donny) of Vestavia; her sister, Dr. Jo Anne Raiford Bryant (Jack) of Prattville AL; two grandsons, Jerald Jacob Harshberger and Daniel Mason Harshberger, both of Vestavia; and two granddaughters, Kathryn Rose Harshberger of Madison AL and Caroline Logan Wiginton of Vestavia. Also surviving is a favorite cousin, Robert Raiford (Zane Rhoades) of Hoover, AL.
Evelyn was the daughter of the late Augustin Lynch (Gus) and Byrd Logan (Bobbie) Raiford of Tuscaloosa AL. She was a 1963 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama in 1967 where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.
After graduation, Evelyn was an award-winning educator in Clayton County, Georgia, where she taught Spanish at Morrow Jr High. With the arrival of her daughter Heather, she exchanged her teaching career for one that focused entirely on her home and family. After Heather entered Birmingham-Southern College, Evelyn obtained her real estate license and quickly became a much sought after realtor because of her knowledge and the personal attention she gave to each client. Before she retired, she became a life-time member of the Million Dollar Roundtable.
Upon retiring, Evelyn devoted her energies to her family, her church, and her hobbies. She was an accomplished needleworker, interior decorator, and cook. Evelyn was a soft-spoken Southern Lady with a beautiful smile and a pleasing personality.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vestavia Hills Methodist Church.
