

Wallace Glenn Houser, aged 85 of Birmingham, Alabama died Thursday, June 20, 2024 following a decline in health. He was a master mechanic and made his living with his sharp intellect and his hands. He could literally fix anything. With his passion for cars, he was also a respected drag racer with his cars “Ambitious” and “Houser & Houser.” He was inducted to the Old Drag Racer’s Hall of Fame in 2006. Through both racing and his Texaco service stations, he made many lifelong friends. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his son, Dwight Glenn Houser of Birmingham; daughter Debbie Lynn Hamby (Ken) of Opelika, AL, Step-Daughter Pam Crain (Jon) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Aaron Nicholas Houser, Casie Brooke Houser, and Alexis Reed Houser of Birmingham; Kelsey Glenn Hamby (Brandie) of Jacksonville, FL; Taylor Blue Hamby (Yi) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Amber Walton (Nico) of Buckeye, AZ; Lauren Ann Pennington (Ashley) of Youngstown, AZ; Great Grandchildren: Noah Hayes Hamby, Myles Austin Hamby, Zachary Markham, Nathan Markham, Schroeder Markham, Kairo Walton; Brothers Bobby (Charlotte) Houser and Benny Jack Houser, several nieces, nephews, his beloved dog Rascal, and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Gladys Houser, his wife Faye Brown Houser, and his former wife Jerusha Goff Houser.
A service will be held on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Ridout’s Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow. His final resting place will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens in Gadsden, Alabama alongside his wife.
Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
