

Gloria Marie Horton Lundberg, 96, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025. She was born on June 16, 1929 to the late Lester and Lucile (Woodard) Horton in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Gloria is survived by her three children, Kathleen Clements, Cynthia (Jimmy) Bartlett, and Mark (Courtney) Lundberg; ten grandchildren, Marianne (Robert) Green, Lt. Colonel Patrick (Julie) Clements (USAF), Captain Christopher (Megan) Clements (USAF), Dr. Andrew (Mary Katherine) Bartlett, Kenton Bartlett, Dr. Harrison (Kerriann) Bartlett, Mark Miller Lundberg, Kenneth Hall (Lauren) Lundberg, Kathryn “Kassey” (Jacob) Hulsey and Lucile “Mallie” (Hunter) Mabry; and 16 great-grandchildren and special friend Kimberli Norton.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1951, she taught school in Atlanta for 3 years. In 1954 she married Kenneth (Ken) Lundberg (deceased), a Georgia Tech graduate, from which time she remained a “happy homemaker.” Because of his Air Force and job duties, they lived in many different places – Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Portsmouth, OH and ultimately settled in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. They attended Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, Vestavia Hills, AL. Together they loved to travel to places like Sweden, Europe, and snorkeling in the Coral Sea. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, bridge, gourmet clubs, and service organizations. Gloria enjoyed her membership in the Samford Legacy League (Birmingham); Amulet Dance Club (Birmingham); Poinsettia Ballet Women’s Committee (Vestavia Hills); and Les Pierrettes (Birmingham). She had a passion for genealogy and was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution General Sumter Chapter (Birmingham); The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century Benjamin Fenn Chapter (Montgomery); National Society United States Daughters of 1812 General Patrick May Chapter (Montgomery); and United Daughters of the Confederacy Cradle of the Confederacy Chapter (Montgomery). Mostly she enjoyed “piddling” and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15, 2025, 9:30 am at Cahaba Park Church in Birmingham followed by a service at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Big Oak Ranch, Exchange Club of Birmingham, or to a charity of your choice.
